The Making of an Amazon.com Bestseller

Hi Guys!

Be sure to check out Marc Stein's new book 299 Kindle Book Bestsellers!

The Making of an Amazon.com Bestseller

I’ve tried to compile the most accurate list of current bestsellers in general categories.

The Amazon.com Kindle Bestsellers List is a fair indicator of how well a product is selling overall.

But the list falls short when it come indicating bestselling Kindle books among other similar items.

In other words, category (and subcategory) bestseller lists were created to highlight an item’s rank in the categories or subcategories where it can stand out.

Focusing on Popular Categories

Amazon.com focuses on the most popular subcategories in which a book has a high ranking in relation to other items in the subcategory, and they showcase the item’s rank on the product page.

The main Amazon.com Bestseller List is based on Amazon.com total sales and is updated hourly.

In the Kindle Book Store, the Amazon bestseller lists are divided into Top 100 Paid and Top 100 Free.

Books in the paid best sellers list have a value greater than $0.00.

Items in the free list have a value equal to $0.00. But both lists are updated hourly.

Sometimes customers are confused by the ranking criteria and percentage increases.

However, whenever you compile lists based on total sales (in hundreds of categories), and even more subcategories, there will issues with regards to determining ranks.

Other factors which go into an Amazon.com bestselling rank include customer reviews and star ratings, and the timing of those reviews.

The Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store list is compiled from general overall sales from millions of authors, and is the only one posted by Amazon.

For example, if a book is only listed in large general category like “Fiction,” “Historical Fiction,” or “Paranormal Fiction” etc. the books will be competing with large numbers of books for a ranking.

What’s more, I also tried to remove books, magazines, periodicals, e-newspapers and repeat entries from the bestseller list.

We also offered our own in-house rankings for many of books featured in this collection.

I’m hopeful this book is entertaining, enjoyable and helps you find priceless gems in the Kindle Bookstore quickly and easily.

I’m confident you’ll agree Amazon.com and the Kindle have changed the course of electronic publishing forever.

Thanks for taking the time to read this Kindle Book!

I would appreciate any feedback and ratings you can provide on Amazon.com.

Feedback and ratings are the lifeblood of any author, publisher or Kindle app developer.
